BarreConcept® is the only internationally accredited barre course in the world, with approval in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia.
BarreConcept is a creative 60 minute workout, which combines the precision of Pilates, alignment of yoga and the grace and technique of ballet. Add to this the strength from sports conditioning and you have all the elements of a typical BarreConcept session.
The BarreConcept Formula
This unique programme is designed to tone the thighs, lift the butt, sculpt the arms and flatten the abdominals. Full range muscular contractions are performed, followed by end range isometric contractions and then a static hold in order to fatigue the muscle. Stretches follow directly afterwards in order to elongate the muscles, creating that long, lean physique. Equipment such as balls, weights and bands are added to the class to challenge the body further.
All two day, in-person instructor training courses take place in Surrey at the following address –
There are two entrances to the club. Please take the small entrance, which is located off the large “S” bend in the road. If traveling by train, turn right outside of the station and walk about 500 metres. The entrance is on the left, just before the “S” bend.

You must submit a video of you teaching a minimum of two healthy adults. You must teach from your choreographed week 5 lesson plan routine that you will learn on the course.
This lesson routine includes the warm up, barre work and floorwork. You will be assessed on a list of selected criteria. These categories include: safety; modifications; teaching points; observation; correction; demonstration; proper technique; tactile cueing; pitch and tone of voice. You will be given the full list of criteria on the course so that you can prepare for your practical assessment accordingly.
Ideally, you can use an iPad to film your exam video. Place the iPad on a surface where you and your client are in full view for the entire video. It is suggested to film for a few minutes and then check your video to see that the angle is correct and that your voice is sufficiently audible. If everything seems fine, go ahead and video your full lesson.
Upon completions of your video, you can upload this onto any internet application that allows you to send large files (e.g. Dropbox, Google Drive, We Transfer or You Send It). You must not upload to You Tube or any publicly viewable social media. You may also put your video onto a CD or USB stick and send via the post.
Please note that there is a £45 cost for your assessment. This covers your assessors time to watch your video and give you feedback. This also covers the cost of your certificate.
Upon successful completion of all assessments, you will receive CPD points from your relevant body, along with the Pilates Union certificate of competency to teach BarreConcept.
